Hoshi had put this off long enough. She wasn't taking a lot with her since she could pretty much get whatever she needed in 2146, but she also made sure to pack up all of her stuff so it would fit in the closet. She figured that Hinata would appreciate the extra space over the summer, and if things worked out really well with Starfleet, then it wouldn't be so hard to have the rest of her things sent home. At the same time, Hoshi really wanted to leave something behind, almost as a way of saying for certain that she would be back in the fall.

She hated the idea of leaving, even if it was just for a few months. Not even the experience she had yesterday with the gremlin had soured her on Fandom. If Travis Mayweather hadn't been waiting for her at the end of the causeway, she would had dawdled a little longer. At least she'd have a nice view of Travis's biceps during the flight to San Francisco.

"Come on, Porthos," said Hoshi, snapping a leash on the beagle's collar. "It won't be long now until we get to see the captain again. I'm sure he'll be happy to see you."

[Establishly and will eventually be a linkdrop. Door and post are open if you want to catch her before she leaves.]
Hoshi felt miserable. Her head ached and all she wanted to do was roll over and go back to sleep, but she had a first period class and a very fractious beagle who would insist on being walked. She pulled a pillow over her face to block out the light as bits and pieces of yesterday started to drift through her mind.

Her excessively-honest confession to Priestly that she liked him. Getting drunk with Amber, who dared her to kiss the next guy who walked in, who just happened to be Robin. Being surprised to see Isabel. And then...

She abruptly sat up in bed with a shriek. "Maa nante koto nanda! I propositioned Ronan!" She had no memory of what happened after she drunkenly started chatting him up because that's when LJ died, woe. Had she taken him up on his offer?

[Establishy. Door closed, but post is open.]
Hoshi was being lazy. There just wasn't anything else to do, with all of her finals done. She could probably go over her lines again for the play, but last night had gone rather smoothly for her.

The door was open.

[Expecting one, but open if anyone else is around.]
When Hoshi woke up Monday morning, she was surprised to find herself clutching a small blanket. No, a blankie. That was weird, she thought. She had given up her security blankie when she was four years old...

Fuzzy memories from the weekend started to filter into her consciousness. She sat up, finding her artwork from the night before still sitting on the bed. The door was closed.

[For the one who slept over last night, and then open if anyone else wants to stop by.]

Hoshi was busy writing a letter to Mama and Papa about her weekend in crayon, with some glitter thrown in for fun. In the spots where she didn't know the words, she drew pictures.

She told them all about making signs with Lana, who had a horse. Then a turtle gave her pizza in the common room and she sort of talked to other boys and girls, except she was too shy so they did most of the talking. Today, she took Porthos for a walk and had a chocolate banana with nuts. Later, she got confused when she got back to the dorm because all the doors looked alike and she couldn't find her room, but Adam helped her and she met another puppy.

The food replicator was dispensing all the chocolate milk and cookies that a little girl could ever want, plus more to share. Once Hoshi was done with her letter, she started making a sign for her room door in case she got lost again.

[Establishy, but open.]

Hoshi was leaving early Sunday morning so that she could get to San Francisco in time for orientation at Junior Cadet Training. That meant she was getting all of her packing done now.

With all the insanity of the last week, she was kind of eager to get away for a little while. The door was open.

[Establishy, but it's the last chance to catch Hoshi before she's gone for spring break.]

After the weirdness of the last couple of weeks, things were starting to look up for Hoshi. She was really looking forward to the dance on Friday and she still felt absolutely giddy about Michael saying yes when she asked him to go to the dance with her.

As she went to the closet to see if she had anything to wear on Friday, Hoshi got a glimpse of the picture of Commander Archer that she had taped to her closet door. She looked it at for a moment, then took it down and placed it in her desk drawer. While Jonathon was still important to her, Hoshi was willing to admit that he was far off in another time period having drinks with that girl at the 602 Club. She might as well have her own relationships here in Fandom.

[Linkdrop, but the door and post are open.]

The welcome picnic on Friday had been full of surprises. Hoshi had another one when she realized that she had the room to herself this semester, but she took it in stride. She had brought back some things to make it feel more like home, including a shoji screen and tatami mats. Travis Mayweather had also helped her acquire a protein resequencer, the same model used on deep space cargo ships. She still hadn't figured out how to program it to make something other than water or milk, so she was currently using her hot plate and a kettle to brew some green tea the old fashioned way while she unpacked things from her shopping trip earlier in the day.

[Door and post are open, especially for big and little siblings as well as frogs.]

Hoshi didn't have any classes on Tuesdays so she was free to sleep in. For some reason, the name "Malcolm" was on her lips as she woke up. She didn't know anyone named Malcolm, but for some reason she was dreaming about this one who was really important to her. At least this dream wasn't as bad as the ones she had when she was sick.

There were a lot of other details about the last few days that were really difficult to recall. Hoshi shrugged it off, thinking it was another side effect of her illness. She rolled over on her side, pulled her blankets up under her chin, and tried to go back to sleep, even if her brain would not stop wondering who Malcolm was.

[Door closed, but post is open]

In retrospect, Hoshi should have known that something would go weird with attending her 20 year high school reunion. Her first trip to Fandom took her 137 years into the past, and this one took her 157 years... which was still about 20 years too early. Still, it was great catching up with people she hadn't seen in years, even if some were still teenagers. It was also completely worth it for having Robin use her communicator to talk to Malcolm.

Her communicator had been silent ever since. It looked like Malcolm was so completely freaked out that he was leaving her alone for the rest of her shore leave. She wouldn't complain about being able to sleep in tomorrow.

Hoshi sat down on her bed with the intention of trying to write a letter to her parents again. After her near panic attack Sunday night while trying to do the same thing, she decided against it. Even after her eye-opening conversation with the Adversary yesterday made her realize that she had the power to make her own choices, Hoshi was still afraid of her parents imposing their will on her.

Besides, what could she tell her parents about this place? That she threw pies at a boy at the Homecoming Carnival? Or that she went to her first dance and wore a fancy dress? She even had the pictures to prove it and got to dance, but she spent more time hiding in the corners to avoid the crowd. At least there were others who kept her company in the corners. For the first time, Hoshi had felt like a normal girl, but it seemed that her parents wouldn't be happy with normalcy.

[OOC: Just a linkdrop. Door closed and post can be open if you don't mind extreme SP.]

After her shift at the hotel, Hoshi returned to her room with her new language book. Last night in the common room was enjoyable, but today Hoshi was focused on learning Quechua. She was sitting on the bed with the book in front of her, her notes and padds spread out around her. The door was open.

[OOC: Establishy but open for SP since there may be someone who wants to talk to Hoshi. I'll be afk until 11 PM.]

Hoshi was sitting on her bed, holding a pencil and looking it over very closely. Of course she had seen pencils before. Her beloved grandfather had used them even after data padds became widely available. She just never thought that she would get to use one.

The welcome picnic had certainly been an eye-opening experience. Her first two classes had been completely different for what she had prepared. Still, she was making friends for the first time. The people here were really nice. It was almost enough to make her forget that she needed to find a way to obtain currency.
