Room 423, Wednesday evening

After her shift at the hotel, Hoshi returned to her room with her new language book. Last night in the common room was enjoyable, but today Hoshi was focused on learning Quechua. She was sitting on the bed with the book in front of her, her notes and padds spread out around her. The door was open.

Determined not to let recent events get him down, Robin decided to try again. "Hoshi? Are you in?"

"Hi Robin," said Hoshi, taking a moment to remember her manners. "Do you want to come in?"

"Thank you." Robin said, coming in, a trifle nervously. This hadn't gone very well last time.

Hoshi waved at the empty desk chair in case Robin wanted to sit down. "What's up?" she asked.

Robin hopped up onto the chair, and took a deep breath. "Hoshi, uhm, would you like to come to the Homecoming dance with me?"

Hoshi shut her book. "This homecoming thing... it's a really big deal, isn't it?"

"Uhm, well yeah. It's, well it's kinda a tradition. And my first one."

"I guess it my first one too, since I was home-schooled before coming here," said Hoshi. "Okay, here's the deal. I freak out in small, enclosed spaces or in large crowds of people. So if I go with you, we have to stay out of the crowds. Will that be okay?"

Robin could barely contain his excited bouncing. "Yeah that's okay." he nodded.

"Then you have a date," said Hoshi. "Is there anything I'm supposed to do besides show up at the dance?"

"Uhm, no, just, you know, dress up, and, er, dance. Well I guess that's not an absoulte requirement."

"Okay, I can handle that," said Hoshi. She didn't have any dresses, but she could take care of that tomorrow morning since her class wasn't until fifth period.

"Thank you Hoshi!" Robin bounced.

"You're welcome. I guess I'll see you Saturday. Do we meet somewhere before going to the dance?" asked Hoshi.

"We could maybe get food? Or just meet there? Or, or, you know, whatever you want to do."

"We could meet there, then," said Hoshi. She really wasn't sure what a date entailed at this point and thought it best to keep it simple.

Honestly neither did Robin really. So it was probably best. "So, I'll see you there then?"

"I'll be looking forward to it," said Hoshi.
