Even though she was officially on leave for the week, Hoshi's communicator started beeping fairly early on Sunday morning. There were only two people who would try to contact her on her first day on shore leave, and Jonathon knew better than to wake her up early. It was no surprise, then, when she opened her communicator and heard the clipped tones of Malcolm Reed. "Sorry to bother you, Lieutenant Commander Sato, but I have updates to the ambassador's schedule," said Malcolm. "How is the reunion going, by the way?"

"I don't know yet, Captain Reed. It's the first day and I just woke up," said Hoshi, a hint of irritation in her voice. "But my old dorm room looks exactly the way I remember it."

"And does your high school boyfriend look exactly as you remember?" asked Malcolm.

Hoshi laughed. "Why are you so eager to hear about any old boyfriends?" she asked in return.

"I'm just trying to stay aware of the situation. I wish you'd let me send a security detail with you. You know the ambassador will be very upset if something happened to you," replied Malcolm.

"Thank you for your concern, Malcolm, but I survived high school. I think I can survive my reunion without you following me around with your phase pistol drawn. What are the latest changes to the ambassador's schedule?"

"He'll be in Paris today, meeting with the Federation Council, but then he's coming back to San Fransisco tonight. The Challenger is arriving back earlier than scheduled and T'Pol, the ambassador and I will be having dinner with Lieutenant Commander Mayweather while he's on Earth."

"Travis is coming back early? Hope I get to see him before we leave for Andoria," said Hoshi, smiling. "Anything else?"

"The ambassador has a present for you," said Malcolm, his tone losing the friendliness that it had earlier. "Reed to transporter. Energize."

A vase of red roses appeared on Hoshi's desk. "They're beautiful!" said Hoshi, getting out of bed and walking over to get a better look. There was a small, handwritten card attached. "'Missing you already, Love Jonathon,'" Hoshi read aloud. "Malcolm, you'll have to thank him for me."

"Personally, Commander, I think it is damned inappropriate for the Ambassador Archer to be fraternizing with you," said Malcolm, the disapproval evident in his voice.

Hoshi sighed. This was going to make for a very long trip to Andoria when she came back from her shore leave. "You had your chance, Malcolm," she reminded him.

"Well, it wasn't appropriate back then either!" he snapped. "If you need me, Commander, I'll be in Starfleet headquarters. Have fun at the reunion. Reed out."

After Malcolm abruptly cut off their conversation, Hoshi tried to put her complicated relationships with Malcolm and Jonathon out of her mind. She was really looking forward to her 20 year reunion. It would be good to get away from her hectic life as a translator for the Federation ambassador to Andoria.
