Room 423, Tuesday evening

Hoshi was in a pretty good mood as she reviewed her communications log. Rehearsal had gone well, her Home Ec midterm had literally been a piece of cake, the bake sale blew away her expectations, people seemed to be enjoying the Self Defense Club, she'd had a blast playing  "I Never" at the sleepover... In short, things had been busy but Hoshi loved it that way.

Her mood changed when she noticed an e-mail from Captain Archer. "'Please arrange quarters on Fandom Island for the weekend of October 24. My shuttle will drop me off at the causeway at 0900. Say hi to Porthos for me and tell him Daddy will be there soon?' Oh, shoot! Who the heck invited him for Parents Weekend?"

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" Hoshi called out, looking up from her data PADD. "Michael? Hi! This is a surprise."

"Hey, Hoshi." He smiled faintly, hovering in the doorway. "Figured I should come see you before I go."

"Where are you going?" asked Hoshi.

"Home", he said simply. "Sometime in the next few days, when everything's tied up."

"I should warn you that I hate saying good-bye to people," said Hoshi.

"Doesn't have to be a long talk", he said with a shrug. "Some people just deserved telling in person."

"It doesn't make it easier. Still, I'm really glad that you came to tell me," said Hoshi.

"You're welcome."

"I home everything works out for you back home," said Hoshi, moving as if to give him a hug.

He didn't move away, given the occasion.

"Thanks. I'm pretty sure it will... somehow."

"This is also the part where I say 'keep in touch,' but I have to admit that I don't always remember to do that myself," said Hoshi.

He laughed quietly.

"I'll try. Already promised Dean I would."

"And I'll work a little harder at it, too," said Hoshi.
