Room 423, Saturday morning

It was Saturday, and Hoshi really didn't have anything to do today. She was half-awake and debating whether she should just sleep a little longer or get up and head to the library to study. Of course, before she did any of that, she should probably walk Porthos...

"Excuse me, milady, but I'm hungry," said an unfamiliar male voice.

And that's when Hoshi leapt out of bed to find a strange man sleeping at the foot of her bed. "Who the hell are you?" she demanded, wondering why Porthos hadn't started barking at the stranger.

"Milady? I'm hungry. Can I have the yummy stuff that comes out of a can today?" said the strange man, sitting up.

"Oh my... Porthos?" asked Hoshi, as the realization sunk in.

"Yes, Milady?" said Porthos. "Hey, my tail is gone!"

[Establishy. Door closed, but post is open, especially for the roommate.]

"P-Porthos can talk?" Hinata asked, sitting up, and not yet having looked over at what was going on. It turned out, really, that she didn't need to.

"Mommy," a child's voice said from beside her, and rather insistently, "I'm tired. Make them stop being loud."

A beat.

"Or we could go exploring! Mommy, let's do that instead!"

Hinata blinked, glanced at the child, then... at Porthos and Hoshi... before back at the child. "Y-Yei?"

"I love you, Mommy!" Complete with a tackle hug that made her squeak. "Let's go, let's go, let's go!"

Hoshi looked back and forth from Porthos to Yei. "I'm guessing it's an epidemic?"

"I am not," Yei said indignantly, with a sniff, before glancing at Hinata. "What's an epidemic, Mommy?"

Hinata smiled reassuringly. "Y-You're just wonderful," she said, then looked up at Hoshi. "I s-seems a good guess, perhaps?"

"I guess if people in Fandom can turn into the animals, then the reverse is also possible," said Hoshi.

Porthos, meanwhile, had one of her shoes in his mouth.
