Room 423, Monday after classes [2/18]

There was only so much socializing that Hoshi could stand before needing a little quiet time. And after a very busy Friday and Saturday, Hoshi pretty much disappeared into her room for the remainder of the weekend.

So after her mythology class, Hoshi was back in her room, making a pot of green tea to enjoy while she went over the handouts from class. The door was open, though, if anyone dropped by.

[The post is open too.]

"No, that's allrigh--yeah. Tea would be great."

He looked out into the hallway and shut the door. He sat in the chair, burying his head in his hands for a moment.

"Hoshi? What do you think of me?"

Subtle Jack was subtle.

Hoshi fussed with pouring the tea. "In terms of what?" she asked.

"I'm just wondering how big a jerk I am," he started off. "I don't have a lot of friends here on this rock, and I don't seem to be keeping them. So before I decide to just up and leave and see what's in the sunset, I figured I'd ask."

His face seemed a mix of anger, frustration, and self-pity. Moreso than normal, as he raked his fingers through his hair and sat back in his best "Hit me, I can take it" pose.

He seemed really upset, and despite what Annette had just told her, Hoshi pitied him. "Here, drink your tea," she said, handing him a mug. "What brought this on?"

"I don't want to talk about it," he said. Cuz guys don't talk about that stuff. That way leads to danger and all.

He sipped his tea. Mmm, good. He saluted her with his cup. His pinky was not standing apart. Really.

"I just want to know." My, the walls were fascinating when someone didn't want to look at his gracious host.

"Okay then," said Hoshi, still wanting to know why Jack was all worked up because her mun was still catching up on posts from this weekend.

"I think you're basically a good person, but you come on really strong sometimes. Too strong, actually. Maybe just a little bit pushy, I guess. It doesn't bother me much, because I can push back. Still, I consider you a friend and even the things that bother me are things that can be fixed."

He held his breath, and released it in a sigh. He still wasn't looking at her.

"Good to know. You...wanna make me a list of things I--you know what? Don't worry about it. Thanks for the tea. I..."

He finished the tea after he trailed off, eyes watering a bit at the temp. Somehow, he looked a bit happier.

[still awaiting resolution to one or two things]
[and....bed!]

Good grief, what was with these boys? They were all giving her a headache these days.

"You're welcome," she said.

It's the girls. Always.

He stood up, put the tea down. He looked at her. Kinda sad, kinda relieved, still pissyed. "Thanks. I'll...stay out of your hair, then." For a few days, at least, until he got things sorted out.

Or joined a convent. Monetary. Nunnery. Whatever the male version of a nun was.

[Okay, I lied. Bed this time for realz!]
